Aithon PV33 Base - 7.5kg Summary

Aithon PV33 Base - 7.5kg

Available only within the UK Market. Euro Class B on timber thickness as low as 10mm - Clear Coating

A superior water borne intumescent varnish; it is overcoated and protected with AITHON F3 Finish coat.

AITHON PV33 is recommended for interior fire protection of timber and is easy to use and quick drying. In the event of a fire, the product swells forming a micro-cellular foam layer more than 3cm thick and resistant to more than 1000°c. This acts as an insulating barrier between the flame and the timber.  The unique gel properties in the Aithon PV33 basecoat and the advanced Aithon F3 finish coat, provide an unrivalled decorative and protected finish.

Why use Aithon PV33 system

The Aithon PV33 system can be used on timber and wood derivatives with a minimum thickness of 10mm and a density equal to or greater than 390kg/m³. Many alternative products and systems on the market will not have gone through the vigorous process involved in ETAG 028 and will not have an ETA. They may not have not passed the parameters set out in BS EN 13238:2021 and therefore can only be used on their tested substrates respectively.

Note: for veneer substrates, please contact our technical department.

Benefits

  • Suitable for a wide range of timbers and wood derivatives
  • Reaction to Fire Performance - Class B s1 d0 (EN 13501-1)
  • Thickness of 10mm or greater
  • Density equal to or greater than 390kg/m³
  • Air gap of up to 40mm
  • European Technical Assessment - ETA 15/0424 2019
  • Perfectly (clear) transparent
  • Easy application by brush, roller or spray
  • High transparency, with semi matt wax Aithon F3 finish coat vanish
  • For us on interior projects

Can we be of help?

Understanding your requirement is important:

Reaction to Fire - deals with the initial stages of a fire.

Reaction to Fire tests are used to evaluate the contribution of a material and building elements to fire growth. How will the timber/wood react in the case of fire? Understanding your requirement is important and guidance should be sought from Approved Document B of the Building Regulations.

European Classifications:
A1 / A2 - Non-combustible materials
B – Combustible materials with very limited contribution to fire
C - Combustible materials with limited contribution to fire
D - Combustible materials with medium contribution to fire
E - Combustible materials with high contribution to fire
F - Combustible materials which are easily flammable

European testing also looks into smoke emission level and flaming droplets which can have major impacts on fire spread.
s1, s2, s3 [m2/sec2] deals with smoke intensity
s1 - Speed of emissions absent or weak
s2 - Speed of emissions of average intensity
s3 - Speed of emissions of high intensity
d0, d1, d2 = description of burning droplets
d0 - No dripping
d1 - Slow dripping
d2 – high dripping

United Kingdom Classifications

Class 1 is a classification defined by BS476 Pt 7 – Surface spread of Flame. This test measures the distance and time a flame will spread across a surface.
Class 0 which is a classification defined by BS476 Pt 6 - Fire Propagation test measuring the amount of heat the surface is giving off during the fire.

Note:

Periods of fire resistance are often confused with the above reaction to fire testing. However, the testing is very different to achieve. Please click on the following link for period of fire resistance using Aithon PV33/60
