Protecta® FR Acrylic is an acrylic-based fire stopping sealant designed to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and gases through joints and openings in fire rated walls and floors, including penetrations around building services. The product also maintains acoustic design performance in building constructions.

When exposed to fire, Protecta® FR Acrylic forms a durable intumescent char layer that seals openings and helps maintain compartmentation integrity. The sealant remains elastic under normal conditions to accommodate limited joint movement.

The product is suitable for use with backing materials such as stone wool or Protecta® backing systems to ensure correct depth-to-width ratios and to reduce shrinkage during curing.

Fire Performance

Protecta® FR Acrylic expands when exposed to heat at approximately 180°C, forming an insulating char that prevents the passage of fire and smoke for periods up to and beyond 4 hours, depending on application and system configuration.

Acoustic Performance

• Single sided seal (≥ 15 mm depth): Rw 50 dB
• Double sided seal (≥ 15 mm depth): Rw > 50 dB

Tested in accordance with EN ISO 10140 and EN ISO 717-1.

Air Tightness

Air, smoke and gas tight performance tested to 600 Pa in accordance with EN 1026.

Should not be used in direct contact with bituminous materials or in permanently damp areas.

Protecta® FR Acrylic is a low-emission acrylic sealant tested to a wide range of European indoor air quality and environmental standards, suitable for use in modern sustainable construction projects.
